ELDER SCROLLS V: SKYRIM ANNOUNCED

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/23338/Bethesda-Announcees-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim/

FUCK YEAAAAAHHHH!

I dumped 80+ hours of my life into Oblivion. I intend to do similar things to this.

Due date: 11/11/11. Well, wouldn't you know it?

Anyhow, something about the Nords of Skyrim being at war with eachother, and some ancient foe that was said to be destroyed, but "only delayed." Oh well, it'll be epic regardless. I can't wait!

Super Cool Games: Urban Terror

I guess to add content every so often I'll talk about a sweet game. Well, I'll start it off with one I play pretty often, Urban Terror, also known as UrT.

I guess that doesn't give a good idea of the game itself... so...

No, your reticle doesn't have to be big, green, and obnoxious, and there isn't normally that many people. I just googled "Urban Terror" and pulled a picture. Although that picture IS from the best map, Uptown.

http://www.urbanterror.info

So what it is is a first person shooter that's like half-Quake, half-Counter Strike. It has the shooter realism of Counterstrike, such as hitting someone in the head will USUALLY kill them [maybe two shots if they're wearing a helmet], whereas the legs or arms won't do as much. However, if they start bleeding in the legs, they can't sprint, for example. [you can bandage yourself up, don't worry]

Now, where Quake comes in is that the engine is the Quake engine. The movement is what gets a tad unrealistic. Jumping correctly and skilfully will have you flying across the map, off of walls, and confusing all of your opponents. That is, if you're REALLY good at jumping, which takes awhile. But when you get used to it, it's pretty useful. Anyhow, the game has unique messages for when you kill someone with certain weapons/methods, and it's just an overall fun game. Pretty quick to jump in to, with not that big of a learning curve.

But don't use the Remington SR8. It's a noob sniper rifle that kills in one hit if you hit in the head, torso, and I THINK arms. I know the legs deals 50% damage, not sure about the arms. But torso and head are instant-kills, which takes zero skill. Just aim and shoot.

Recommended servers: |Alpha| Uptown 24/7, |WC| Wildcat Uptown 24/7, NRG Uptown 24/7... Basically any dedicated 24/7 servers on Uptown, playing Team Deathmatch.

There are other decent maps, too, like Algiers, Streets, and Riyadh, but... Uptown's the best.

So if you play it, search for me and hit me up. I'm {CoTP}Twitch.

New Monitor, Song Loadout of the Week

So I got a new Acer 20" Widescreen monitor for my birthday/Christmas today. :D Resolution is 1600x900. It's quite sexy. Here's a screenshot.

See how huge that is? The window width of that Firefox window is roughly the same as my old monitor [a normal 1024x768 one]. So it's added on the width on the left and right. Not so cramped. AWESOME.

When we figure out an outlet/power strip situation I'll use both this AND my old monitor. It'll be awesome. But see only 2 followers? That number should be bigger...

So yes. The songs I'm NOW addicted to:

Zac Brown Band - "As She's Walking Away" - This is just an absolutely beautiful song, the harmonies in it are excellent, and it's just a neat song idea. The melody is awesome, and I can't stop singing it right now.

Them Crooked Vultures - "Warsaw or the First Breath You Take After You Give Up" - Long name, I know, but it's a sweet song with a really groovy riff. The chorus is sort of weird [it reminds me of circus music], but the main guitar riff is awesome. There's a breakdown that's like 3 minutes long of Josh Homme just messing around, and it slowly gets faster as he goes. It's really awesome.

Them Crooked Vultures - "Elephants" - This is one SEXY riff. I just imagine, right at the song's start, three guys bursting into a party in slow motion wearing tuxedos and stuff. I don't know. Tons of energy, I love it. The bridges are weird, but it's great.

For now I guess that's it, but, hey... It's something to try out. Go for it, I hope you'll be pleased

Minecraft: Floating Peninsula

So in my Minecraft world, I have been mesmerised by a certain structure in the landscape.

That's the distant shot. Upon closer inspection...

Yeah. Pretty sweet, eh? Well, I took it upon myself to  sever it from that which it was connected. A floating island in the sky. Well, after a bit of doing so...

Yeah, that's only partway done. On the other side of that, behind me, is a wall. Like this.

I gotta dig through that. Well, actually, I succeeded in doing so.

I'm pretty proud of myself. I also had to light up basically everything underneath the island, because the shadow cast by it was so immense that it was essentially nighttime on the ground, and monsters were spawning like crazy. Trees couldn't grow, anything. It was cool, but annoying.

There's snow on top of it and everything. Now, what I should do is make a river flow off of the side of it closest to the water, so I can skyboat up to it. :D

Skyboat: (Verb) The action of abusing a glitch in Minecraft, allowing one to ride up a waterfall at extreme speeds while in a boat.

18th Birthday!

So today' my 18th birthday. Legal adult. Woo! I hung out with my girlfriend all day after school, it was quite nice.

I celebrated by buying some scratch cards, but lost all 3 of them [$1 each]. Meh.

I'm chronicling my adventures in Minecraft, I'll try to get an article on here about that. Something about separating a piece of land jetting out from a cliff from said cliff. Into a floating island in the sky. Oh yeah.

Have a good night. :D

Let it Snow, Let it Snow

FINALLY, it snowed today. It's Michigan, for God's sake. It should've been snowing half a month ago, a month ago, whatever. But, I got my first taste of driving in it in my car instead of a heavy 4-wheel drive truck. Quite different. XD.

I slid twice, almost hitting a car once, on my way to school this morning, and upon leaving, when I was done brushing my car off to leave, I decided to brush off two cars next to me. I don't know why, I was feeling generous or something [I left a note saying I felt nice on their hood, written by my suddenly frostbitten finger].

I then went to my dad's where my step-mom is non-existent for 3 days while she's in Texas. Thank God. So it was just my dad and I until my grandpa came over [he lives next door]. He has Alzheimer's, and is quite a... character, to put it nicely. I'm surprised he didn't hit my car as he was leaving. Seriously. This guy has no passenger mirror [he broke it off hitting his motorhome as he was backing up one day] and yet... still uses his passenger mirror. Yeah. That either takes skill or something else. Nothing like seeing a 70-something year old guy [75 maybe?] using a mirror that doesn't exist.

And so I'm back home, listening to music, watching SportsCenter, and talking to my girlfriend and best friend. Trying to decide when I should do my daily calculus homework. Or that powerpoint for nutrition ed., although that might not be due until Friday, so...

I need some more humor in this blog. Most of it comes from Minecraft, which I haven't played in a couple days...
